sir,
I have the honour to forward the enclosed copy
of a letter, dated the 16th. of last December, from the Acting
Consul-General for Japan together with a copy of a minute, dated
the 13th. instant, by the First Assistant Director of Public Works,
and to recommend that the area of 75,170 square feet coloured red
on the attached tracing should be granted on lease for the term of
75 years without premium and upon payment of a nominal Crown Rent
of $1.00 per annum to the Japanese Community resident in Hongkong
for the purpose of erecting a Buddhist Temple, subject to the
condition that if such temple is not erected or if the area is not
used solely for religious purposes, the site and the buildings (if
any) thereon shall revert to the Crown.
